The coronavirus situation in Finland and abroad is understandably worrying . We wish everyone to stay safe and sound, and to cope with the situation by the means available to us.

The leadership team of OIEF decided to suspend all face-to-face gatherings  until further notice and updates:

  • Worship services and devotions
  • Bible studies
  • Events
  • Any other face-to-face gathering by OIEF

We will inform you about possible alternative ways of worshiping and fellowshiping on this website and/or by email. If you wish to join our mailing list, please contact

In addition, OIEF’s leadership team established the following guidelines, which we recommend to follow until further notice:

  • Pray for each other and the situation – locally and internationally. Ask God to provide wisdom and guidance.
  • Care for each other by other means than face-to-face, if possible, e.g. by phone or virtual tools and apps. Alleviate loneliness and stress that we and fellow people may experience.
  • Stay home and work or study remotely, if possible and if you have been advised so by your work or study place.
  • Avoid any public gatherings and crowds larger than 10 people. Avoid physical contact such as shaking hands.
  • Cut down travelling. You can move and go out to buy groceries, visit the pharmacy, walk in nature, do outoor sports etc.
  • Follow the guidelines given by the governmental and health care authorities in Oulu and Finland.
  • Inform yourself about the coronavirus and preventive measures, e.g. according to the THL website and YLE news.
  • Protect yourself and other people from infectious diseases of any kind. For example, wash your hands carefully. For other suitable preventive measures, consult the guidelines provided by THL.
  • Monitor your health condition, especially, regarding any kind of symptoms of flu (fever, cough, sore throat etc.). If you have any flu symptoms, stay at home and wait until you get better. Ask others to help with everyday matters such as groceries. If your condition gets worse, contact your local public healthcare provider in Oulufor medical advice according to the guidelines of THL.

The aforementioned guidelines are based on the coronavirus information provided by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL). The guidelines are intended to slow and prevent the spread of the coronavirus and possible infections. In addition, they are meant to protect the most vulnerable people (old and sick people), and to help keep the health care running as smooth as possible.

We also want to encourage each other and people around us, because God is in charge of this situation as well, and Christ wants to give us his peace, which transcends all human understanding (Philippians 4:7).
