Imagine that in God’s eyes everyone of us is fast asleep in sin and darkness: we are all dreaming a bad dream which is our sinful reality. And then there comes someone, Jesus, who wakes us up. He wakes us up, gently like a parent waking up a child. If we let him wake us up, we come to see the light of a new reality. Jesus then says to us: Stay awake! Don’t fall back into sin’s sleep. Rather, keep the faith and live your lives with your eyes open for all the good things that you can fill your minds and hearts – the word of God, prayer, fellowship, love towards God and others – those still living in darkness and those sharing already in the light of Christ. Read up Ari Savuoja’s sermon from 16 November 2014 on the topic of wakefulness. (BF)
