We read in John 12:12-24 that Jesus was received in Jerusalem as the king to the Jews. The people waved with palm branches and laid them down on the road to pave his way. Christ  went down that road. But it didn’t lead to a palace, or a throne for him. He was crowned with thorns, and eventually defamed on the tree of shame, on the cross, outside the city gates. Jesus went down that road to death to give us life, he surrendered his life that we might be lifted up and freed from the penalty of sin. Learn more about Jesus’ road of descent by downloading and reading Ari Savuoja’s sermon from Palm Sunday, 24 March. Here’s also a sermon by Bastian & Hanna Fähnrich on the same Bible reading in John’s Gospel. (BF)
